Small sample size I know and yes they've played some of the supposed dregs of the NL but Mets seem to have a little "ju ju" going on. No name bats for most part outside of IDavis(who hasn't started hitting yet) and DWright but they seem to have a nice little pitching staff led by Harvey and Niese to go along with Gee with Wheeler on tap for a call up maybe mid season. I don't know, maybe I'm drinking the kool-aid but I have a strong suspicion with the extra wild card, they might be playing some meaningful games come September in Queens.

I think they will finish in 4th place in the NL East.

Not too fond of that answer LA ,though it's probably true. Not so sure the Philies are going to be all that good as they have major question marks up and down their lineup and so it wouldn't be a total shock if Mets could finish ahead of them.

Mets pitching is respectable, at least the starters. But I see no way they can finish higher than 3rd in the division, well out of wild card contention. Washington and Atlanta are not only the 2 best teams in their division, but the 2 best in the NL, if not all of MLB

I have to agree with the above. The Mets are not contenders in 2013 but are building a nice nucleus for the future headlined by Harvey and Wheeler in the rotation and D'arnaud behind the dish.

Agreed which is what I was mentioning to LA, Mets could beat out the Phillies who are no great shakes for 3rd in the division. Reason I was thinking possibly there would be meaningful games in September was due to the pitching staff that looks to be more than respectable as they have a chance to be pretty dang good.
Speaking of Harvey, this kid has really been quite a story since he was called up last few months of the season. He's 24 which is a bit on the older side for such a highly regarded prospect. He looks mature beyond his years and he looks so composed on the mound. Helps he's got a heater that can get up to 98 with movement and 3 other pitches which he locates very well. Watched him last night and he was absolutaly filthy.
I think we've got something really special here with Harvey and I can only hope and pray as they are apt to do, Mets brain trust(an oximoron if there ever was one) doesn't screw the pooch on this where Harvey turns into the next Paul Wilson or Bill Pulsipher instead of Doc Gooden which is where I'm thinking he's headed. At very least, Met home games when Harvey in on the mound this summer should be something to really look forward too. Going to be real fun especially when/if Wheeler and D'Arnaud get called up as well. Alderson has done a good job as at least there's some hope for the future.

Best thing about Harvey, is that I keep hearing Wheeler is better. Not sure how the Mets convinced the Giants to give up an A prospect for a 2 month rental, I thought those trades didn't happen anymore

Two weeks later I'm pleasently suprised at how the Mets are doing. 9-8 at this juncture for a team most predicted wouldn't win 70 games, works for me. Beating the "vaunted" Dodgers last night with a walk off Grand Slam makes it even more sweeter. Here's to keeping the hits coming.

I think the important thing for the Mets and their fan base is at least they are fun. They've been a boring franchise since the 80's. At least now they have a nucleus of players who play the game right and look like they are having fun doing it.
