Trade help: 13 team AL only (includes Nationals and Dodgers). Pitchers are inflated in this league...I refused to pay, so my staff is terrible. Brett Anderson / Jarrod Parker / Ogando / Doubrant / Arrieta. I offered Longoria and Ankiel for Kershaw, he has countered with Kershaw for Prince Fielder - I would replace Fielder with Giambi, so about as big a dropoff as possible. Would you ever trade Fielder for Kershaw in a roto league?

Personally, I don't think the staff is that "terrible" it's just they are currently under-performing and you clearly lack an anchor.
Kershaw is definitely a stud but pitchers are a bit skittish and a few bad outings can really skew the numbers against you. I almost always prefer the stud bat over the stud pitcher unless you have a serviceable replacement available. In this instance, you lack that.
What kind of 1b/CI does your potential trade partner have? Perhaps you can expand the trade as Fielder and Arrieta for Kershaw and bat better than Giambi? Even a Mitch Moreland or someone receiving mostly every day at-bats would make this trade more palatable. It appears on it's face, all your gains on the pitching side would be wiped out by losses on the hitting side. If this were July or August and you told me you had huge leads in offensive categories, my analysis might change. On May 1st, I'd stand pat or at least look to revise the trade slightly so that you receive some production from 1b.

Thanks for the advice This is a pretty deep league, so everyone has holes in their lineup. For example, I also have Rick Ankiel and Endy Chavez starting in the OF, with Bourjos hurt, and Jayson Nix starting at my DH. His offense is completely depleted, because he went overboard at the draft buying Kershaw / King Felix / and Weaver. He is not going to give up everyday at bats, since his offense currently has 5 or 6 holes. Appreciate the advice, I think I am going to hold onto Fielder, he is too consistent. Longoria has similar upside, but lacks in reliability, so I am willing to part with him

I agree. There's tons of comfort in a player like Fielder because you know what you're going to get. Longoria's name and position should be worth something and trading him is more palatable because like you said, he lacks the consistency. Perhaps look to the Gio Gonzalez owner if he needs a bat and has decent pitching? Gio's numbers don't look all that great right now but you know his upside. Maybe James Shields as well. Both would be reasonable targets for an offer of Longoria.

Close deal but I always like hitters over pitchers so take Fielder.
