Keep 8 players for 5 years before a redraft. In the 2nd year right now. 10 teams. Would you trade J. Upton and T. Cahill for Y. Darvish?
Winning all hitting cats but sb's a the moment and have a 15 point lead over 2nd place overall. Here are my other keepers:
1b- J. Votto 2b- R. Cano 3b- M. Cabrera SS- T. Tulo OF- C. Gonzalez OF- J. Upton SP- S. Strasburg SP- A. Wainwright
Been trying to get Kershaw from him instead of Darvish in a deal but he is a Dodger fan so almost impossible.
Thanks.

Is it your desire to have a 5/3 split for keepers between bats and pitchers and that's your motivation for the trade? With Strasburg and Wainwright you already have two extremely good pitching keepers. Upton is young and finally coming into his own so I'm not so sure about losing his bat for the next three years. You would of course shore up your pitching keepers in case Strasburg's poor mechanics turn into another TJ surgery.
So, it really comes down to preference. I'd rather ride my two horses and keep 6 bats, especially one as young as Upton. But, if your motivation is a 5/3 split I think this is a very fair offer (in fact, you're probably paying too much) and Darvish certainly looks like he's going to be dominant for a while.

For some reason I dont have a ton of faith in J. Upton. He has already slowed way down after his hot first month. He looks like he is back on last years pace now for the past month. If Darvish is going to be an annual 17 games winner with 230 k's and a 3.00 ERA then I think I like him more. I do like having 3 great SP since it is a 10 team league and everyone seems to have two studs themselves.
I have been trying to use him with other to get Kershaw/Trout/Verlander but those owners won't bite.

Knowing its a 10-team league I agree with your assessment. Stud pitchers are a premium in this tighter format and while I like Upton, I agree he's not elite. Darvish certainly looks to be a 200+ K guy for years to come. I might prefer him to Verlander as he's much younger.

The age is not that important since we redraft once every 5 years ans this is our 2nd year. In a dynasty league with no redraft ever I look at the age. I am still holding out trying to get Kershaw off him instead throwing a few more pieces in of course.

I think even for the next 3 years age is important. Verlander is 30 years old and has logged over 1600 innings in his career. He currently has an elevated BB rate (small sample size) and he has the huge contract. I'm not suggesting this is the end for him or that the big money will cause him to work less, but it's at least something to consider. That all being said, Verlander's other skills are still very much intact and he's an ace starter. I just don't think I'd lose out on the Darvish deal because I'm trying to get Verlander.
