Umm.... so....
Hey Jon, how's it going?
I'm not afraid to admit, I know little about fantasy baseball at the moment. Here is my roster, if I was looking to pickup a "hot" player, which one of these guys should I dump first? I'll leave out the A-Listers.
BATS: Trumbo, Andrelton Simmons, Aybar, Austin Jackson,Tori Hunter, Danny Espinosa, Juan Francisco, Scutaro, Infante, Lorenzo Cain, Ichiro
PITCH: Bobby Parnell,David Robertson, Alburquerque, Clippard, Jake McGee, Alex Cobb, Julio Teheran, Paul Maholm

First, I need to know the format of the league. How many teams? Is it Head to Head or Rotisserie style? Is it a keeper league and what are the rules associated with the keepers? Answers to those questions would be valuable in determining what course of action to take.
Without knowing more and assuming it's not a keeper league, I'd say Simmons and Francisco are easy people to cut. Between Aybar, Infante, Espinosa and Scutaro you are more than covered at the middle infield spots so Simmons would be the first to go. I'm not a big fan of Francisco either. I see him as a .250 hitter with maybe teens power so riding the hot hand of someone else is probably a better strategy.

Jon, of course you would want to know the finer details... It's a twelve team, non-keeper, mixed league with head-to-head scoring.
I think Freeman is first man out but among the pitchers. Al is a pretty decent RP, we start two RP's and have 5 extra starting pitcher slots for the week with daily lineup changes. And Clippard, could he be a trade target, now that he isn't the save man? I sure wish the Tigers would take a chance on him...

Given that it's daily lineup changes, I like having the big-K relievers to plug into my lineup so yes, Francisco and Simmons would be the first two to go.

"Freeman first man out" was this an error meaning Simmons? Do not drop Freddie Freeman, I repeat, do not drop Freddie Freeman. I like Simmons' upside better than both Francisco and Scutaro. Simmons should be near .300 with average, has rising pop, and will easily steal double digits. Plus, he is so good defensively, you never have to worry about a slump effecting playing time. Scutaro's great play in San Fran last year feels fluky in that ballpark

Yeah, pretty sure he meant Simmons.
I'm not nearly as high on Simmons as you are. I think he'll hover around .260 and be lucky to hit more than handful of homers. He strikes me as a 23 year old Willie Bloomquist in that he'll steal an empty 15 bases. In a 12-team non-keeper league, I see very little value in Simmons. He's a glove man who's bat will likely take another year or two to develop into something worthy in a 12-team non-keeper. While I don't believe in Scutaro's 2012 season I see him in the high .280's with a few more homers and about half as many steals. Either way, I think both take a back seat to Aybar anyway.
